Validation
Validation is valued as internal significance, being notably applauded. It is the elimination of unknown acceptance of right or wrong, win or lose. It gives worth to the scenario with a stamp of approval, a trophy, an award, or appraise. Most yearn to be validated in their field of practice, to be considered a bright mind or a top competitor. It is insightful to know that the path was correct and/or worthwhile.
Not all that comes to be needs validation or at least not that from which can be seen. For some cases it shouldn’t be the ultimate goal, but rather a nice surprise. It seems egotistical in nature to always want to be the very best. This can ultimately be the drive for success for top athletes, competing companies, and any other competition based endeavour. A fierce urge to stand on top of the podium to claim the title, yet from day to day if we seek to always have this level of validation our thirst may never be quenched.
Sometimes validation does not come even for life's greatest acts. The simple day to day challenges that arise do not give grace to medals or trophies, applause, respect, or perhaps a thank you. Yes, even phrases, comments, cards, or an ole fashion finger point is a small glimpse. It is the notion of a job well done, but not all jobs done well are appraised. Although it is fair to say that an accumulation of acts can lead to the road of validation.
Internally we can reward ourselves along the road, taking pride in what has been accomplished. An invisible self high-five. It is like waking up everyday and being a valiant leader of care for the greater good. This can go unnoticed for years, unrecognized, and feel unimportant, but that accumulation of acts leads to somewhere great. Even if it didn’t that wasn’t the point in the first place. It is not gloating that is seeked, it is pride, the two distinguish themselves by one seeming more conceited than the other.
It should not be the expectation of validation that drives most of life's motives. Let it not be a blood thirsty fight that is simply yearning for recognition and recognizing the scars endured along the way. It will stand its place as the ultimate driving force propelling us towards the next big accomplishment, but remember we are all one. I’m the light within you and you are the light within me. The greatest of all sacrifices is to give for the better of the whole, absent in thought of receival in return.
