Questioning Consumption
There is an undefined or unremarked fixation with what we choose to consume. A compulsive persistent pattern that daunts us with or without us knowing. Shackles that tie us into social circles, poorly based traditions, and the gathering of the flock to the plate. Altering our behavior, creating dependency, all in a crave brought upon us by the revolution of food, which perhaps is the downfall of our own gut society.
Without question we can succumb to acute responses, unwilling to distinguish between this and long term benefits. Seeking pleasure in misery and destruction. Absent of the idea to challenge the current status quo. Traditions are held with little thought to how they came about. It may seem steady to the naked eye, but the hand quivers as it feeds the mouth.
On top of the food chain we feel dominant enough to take it all rather than the parcel that is needed. Steering away from the foods of generations we adapted to the modified and prescribed. What is deemed as “healthy”, must be for that is what it states. What is traditional, must stay for that is the agreement.
Soon blank is needed to handle that, or absorb those, or to fight it. Popped and loaded to heave another scoop. The root cause seems uninteresting as the present provides the “bounty”. Usually never foraged, but forged into our impressions over time. Parties, events, and gatherings alike one after another the similarities are picked up to be carried over to the next.
The current model does not express one of individuality as it should, but rather communal. At least categories are made to define variant groups, but usually they are lacking in levels. Do’s and don'ts build the framework, but not every house is the same. Instead of making it our own we follow the rules. These rules are really orders to stay in line with the others to not create fault. Even though consciousness and awareness are perhaps a couple pecks away.
Rebellion is needed to ward off these enemies that suppress our own tales. A stance to create a disturbance seemingly impossible, but yet it has been done, is happening, and who will be the next is a personal choice. Bringing back individual choice to meals and thought behind consumption.
